Students save orphans from doomed life as prostitutes

Norwegian students at Griffith University at the Gold Coast have teamed up to help children in danger of being sold to prostitution in Baan Chivit Mai, Thailand.

Members of the Association of Norwegian Students Abroad (ANSA) have entitled their charity work the “Thailand Project.”

Newly re-elected president of ANSA, Renate Eriksen said at every event hosted throughout the semester students will be asked to donate five dollars or more.

“We are hoping to raise at least 2000 dollars this semester.”

Student Priest Sjur Henrik Asgeir said the money will provide the orphans with a roof over their heads, food, medicine and school books.

“I think they are supporting a great cause,” he said.
